WE believe that the way to a communities heart is through its ‘stomach.’ Therefore, we started a community garden at 1200 McMillon Ave SW. It is our vision to revitalize the west end communities life, blood, body, mind & spirit through the growing and sharing of food and creating sustainable economic institutions in the process. Our practical & programmatic approach has a threefold purpose: 1) Inspiration through the fundamental example of ‘community gardens’ that are beautiful and bountiful. 2)Educating community members by making readily available resources and information about sustainable gardening and natural food preparation to increase the health and well being of a community overwhelmingly challenged by the lack of healthier food options. 3) Creating Institutions that are self-sustaining and holistic models that will serve to revitalize a community that is otherwise a food and economic desert.
